✨Gems of Power✨ is a celebration of my Asian American heritage. 🔮~

Growing up, I didn’t want to be Asian. ❤️‍🩹 I wore blue contacts and tried to unconsciously whitewash myself, unaware of the pervasiveness of systemic racism in our culture and systems.

Now I fully embrace being a Filipino Chinese Korean American woman. 🇺🇸 I am grateful to be a goddess of color, and I am honored to share my heritage with you through this collection. 👁

Together we birthed this wondrous wardrobe with @medusacomplex_fashion as a fusion of our styles, weaving traditional silk brocade into the designs. These fabrics have adorned Chinese people and everyone touched by the Silk Road as far back as the Qing and Han Dynasties. That was centuries ago.

Today, we police each other about cultural appropriation. ⚠️ While I am glad to see that people are being more thoughtful about racism, sometimes we take this shit too fucking far. 🙅🏻‍♀️

There is appropriation and there is appreciation. ❤️‍🔥 We cannot put up too many walls against one another, letting our trauma and fear exclude respectful, curious people from participating in and learning about who we are and where we come from. 🐲

Our world is a gorgeous gem suspended in the star studded cosmos, beautifully blended with all of the earth’s richness in diversity. 🌎 We are the most powerful and shine the brightest when we are united.

Thank you beautiful soul for reading this, and for letting me share with you my ruminations behind the Gems of Power collection. 🌌

xoxo
